He was way too passive – like the problem belongs to some third person. He should have been pounding the podium and saying this is what I want! And calling names. Jeeeezzz.

They showed some clips from Truman on Hardball last night – when he (eventually) did the hard hammering voice -THIS IS WHAT I WANT.
We’ve talked about these things before – but I still find it painful to watch a man not fit for his job. Just the wrong nature. It’s like he’s afraid someone will disagree or be angry.
You would think that the support of ~200 million americans would make a difference, but apparently not.
But you could also feel how strong the podium is. A bit more adept person (maybe Hillary would have pulled this off..) in the White House – things will get fixed and better. Right now the power and greed junkies are compelled to abuse the weak president – it’s in the nature of their addiction.
And in some sense Rumsfeld is right – “weakness is provocative” – to some people. And a US president pleading and yelping for acceptance and approval is dead provocative. It feeds aggression, not sympathy.
