Agreed. Something disturbingly calm about this when juxtaposed against the systematic brutality we are witnessing here in America! It has more to do with underscoring the message of corporate omnipotence and the myth of protected first amendment rights than clearing the streets. Just ask any Occupy movement whose side the police seem to be on.
Don’t miss the great post on how the 1% is politically empowered in Tim Dickinson’s brilliant Rolling Stone article, Party of the Rich.
Hi there!
Great tip – and in some sense it’s sheer madness, those things described in the article.
But it’s also classic “empire” dynamics – and what mostly happens when the balance between State and business/private wealth tips. Only mind-boggling thing is the scale – and how one can push a scam like that for three decades, while everybody lives on credit. Walking straight into the dungeon with open eyes.
But now, I think, the broader pressure behind movements like Occupy and other symptoms of push-back is just growing stronger for each day that passes. Let’s hope it gets well managed, as it evolves.

And thanks for the comment!
