Even though it sometimes appears to have quieted down a little bit – here are a couple of headlines from Press TV this weekend:
- Occupy spread across US despite the cold and police brutality
- OWS switch to marching as tactics of protesting
- Occupy shut down bank in Washington, D.C.
- Police crackdown on Occupy DC.
- Occupy New York has started a hunger strike.
More stories.

I certainly hope they are not. I’ve been wondering how this movement can develop and take things to the next level…but as long as the gap between the rich and the poor keeps growing, it will definitely not go away.
Absolutely – and Right on!
The pressure behind the movement is still growing every day. It’s sort of a systemic “default” that occupy and the like will enforce big change in the end, I think. Let’s just hope it’s not unnecessary dramatic or abrupt.
Yeah, I do fear violence. Not because I think the Occupy people are scary crazy radicals or anything like that, but because I expect our future situation to get more desperate.
In some ways I think the battle might have been lost in the early 80s – like mentioned in the speech of Mario Cuomo in 1984. After that, the power balance tipped – and the whole thing might just have to crash and burn before things change. Just really burn itself out – as the control aquired by private organized capital rarely gives up on itself.
And history could also suggest troops in the streets and killings before it’s all over.
But! It could also go very smoothly
I look forward to the meovement growing from fighting with the cops to a political and support thing….
And they need to aim at the people who sent the cops….
The ones who are are picking our pockets…..
I just really hope this is played well next year. All the things are out on the table – the gap in society, the 99%, the last 30 years, the plain wrong dynamics of cheating and fraud over playing by the rules.
And I really hope this is managed well into the general election and the congressional races. That we don’t need another two or four more years of building pressure and pain before it gets better. Building on occupy and other movements to create a strong broad message for the center and moderate wings should be an easy task at this point.. Then we could get a safer landing and be done with this mess, for now.
The ones who we bailed out two years ago and are getting away scott free….
And that,
is a steady stream to energize the political movements. Gets you boiling every time
