This might be too technical to make a difference in the public debate – but Romney’s plan to lower marginal taxes to 25%, without raising middle class taxes – will simply add to the debt and deficit.
Romney: “The president’s ad saying I’m gonna raise taxes on the middle class? That’s patently, simply false.”
Greg Sargent: “The real point to be drawn from Romney’s assertion is that he has admitted his tax cuts won’t be paid for. Which means that his plan would explode the deficit.”
