BP Spill worst case: 210bn gallons, a hundred years of gushing.

When BP first announced their “giant” find down in the Gulf of Mexico, they estimated the whole thing to about 42bn gallons. But, as this is merely the “recoverable oil”, or about 20% of the well – we’re looking at something like 210bn gallons of oil down there, at the moment sipping through the seafloor at enormous pressure.

If all cracks open,

BP spill – lunch update.

Not a clue what we’re seeing here – but they’re working on it.

The gusher still not co-operative.

Latest from officials is that critical pressure test on the well “would be postponed“.

“It’s a good precaution for us to take at this time,” Mr. Wells said, but added, “It will set us back a couple days.”

End-game is relief wells mid august, and clean-up operations for years.
