Rep. Peter King: Rand Paul’s ‘madness’ destroying GOP brand on security – The Hill’s Blog Briefing Room

Paul has been running around for a long time… about time there were some pushback from the defense industry’s representatives in Congress…

And this might be an early preview of rightwing primaries in 2016… with a clownbus of one-note fringe folks, a couple of "moderate" conservatives and a libertarian wing a lot stronger than in 2012..
Every week that Rand stands unopposed is building support for his line of thinking…

Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) said Sunday that the libertarian wing of the Republican party is damaging the GOP’s reputation on national security.

King criticized Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), a potential 2016 presidential candidate, for supporting Edward Snowden, who leaked information about the National Security Agency’s extensive domestic surveillance programs.

"When you have Rand Paul actually comparing Snowden to Martin Luther King or Henry David Thoreau, this is madness," King said.

"This is the anti-war, left-wing Democrats of the 1960s that nominated George McGovern and destroyed their party for almost 20 years. I don’t want that to happen to our party."

  1. Rep. King is right. The Republicans have enough issues right now in trying to figure out the best candidate to hopefully defeat Clinton or Biden in 2016. The last thing they needed was the emergence of the tea party, especially asinine comments by members like Rand Paul who repeatedly makes insensitive remarks about all the wrong issues. Just my take.

    • Yep.. but he has timing on his side I think… war weariness is a lot stronger now probably… Paul would be less acceptable 5 or 10 years ago…

And this is yet another challenge for the small tent Repubs…. he is messing things up….
