Jeb Bush has become the GOP front-runner for 2016 — so now what?

This could become ugly.. Jeb is the reluctant candidate.. with a huge name problem..–so-now-what/2015/01/31/0105ca68-a96e-11e4-a06b-9df2002b86a0_story.html

Losing Romney as a rival is “a mixed bag for Bush,” said veteran GOP strategist Saul Anuzis, a former chairman of the Michigan Republican party. “He also becomes the target of everyone who is anti-establishment. Before, you had Romney and Bush kind of splitting up that ire.”

Bush was already assembling a formidable army of fundraisers and talented operatives, including poaching Romney’s top Iowa strategist, David Kochel, to be his national campaign manager.

That process appeared to intensify after the 2012 GOP presidential nominee bowed out on Friday.

“It’s a great day for Jeb Bush,” said Brian Ballard, a lobbyist who led Romney’s 2012 fundraising effort in Florida and switched to Bush this time around. “I think Jeb had 75 percent of the money folks here. This brings in the other 25 percent.”

  1. I just talked to someone this weekend who said that Jeb seems like the most reasonable of the family to her…but she wouldn’t vote for him because she doesn’t want another Bush in the White House.

So, yeah…the name. I think Americans are getting tired of this particular dynasty.

        • As far as I’ve understood, the Electoral College is so heavily tilted towards Democrats now, and becoming even more so with Texas as a blue state in a decade or so..
So unless you have a disaster on the Dem side.. we’ll have Dem Presidents for decades to come..

And “Bush & Condi” are probably not very helpful names in breaking this tilt in 2016 😛

          • Wow. Mac, you’re making me swoon over here! Democratic Presidents for decades to come…? Let’s not get too excited, though–if there’s anything I know, it’s that Democrats are very talented at shooting themselves in the the foot!

    • I thought some of the same.. here we go again.. the ups and downs of one “true conservative” candidate after the other.. and ending on Jeb. Maybe. In some ways Walker and Paul are less of a clown than many of the others in the field of 2012 though.. but Christie is a huge distraction.. he should accept his problems of lack of self control.. it will never work.. unless it’s all about him of course..

  2. Dispite the Walker noise I view Jeb Bush as the guy to beat for the GOPer’s….
Conservatives may not be happy with his views on Immigration and Education….But on most other things he’s their guy….
    If you haven’t heard this?
Bush seems to be running at the general election in seeming to run in the middle….

  3. Like with Romney?…. Conservatives may not be the decesion makers in the primaries that everyone thinks they are….Check my post today on the numbers….It’s early but it is revealing
